Hi, I’m Henrique.

A white guy (me) reading a book, alongside his black Dog

I’m a twentysomething IT and cybersecurity student based just outside of Paris, where I live with my family and my awesome dog. I’m currently in my second year of a bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity at EPITA.

I built this site to document the things I learn, share my technical setups, and write about the media I consume.

What I’m into

Cybersecurity & CTFs

I started playing Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions in mid-2021, and the thrill of finding hidden flags in intentionally vulnerable systems is what cemented my decision to pursue a career in security. I’ve had the honor of participating three times in the European Cybersecurity Challenge (ECSC) representing Portugal.

Linux & Homelabs

I’ve been a Linux enthusiast for about five years. After distro-hopping from Fedora to Debian to Arch, I finally went all-in on NixOS. I love the declarative approach to system management—I switched my laptop, then my desktop, and then my server. My config repository currently has over 600 commits as I constantly chase that “flawless” minimal setup. On the blog, you’ll find posts about NixOS, self-hosting, Docker, Tailscale, and managing VMs.

Sci-Fi & Cyberpunk

I commute for about two and a half hours every day, so I spend almost all of that time reading. I’m a massive fan of dystopian and cyberpunk literature (think Philip K. Dick and William Gibson). I often review books, shows, and movies like The Three-Body Problem, Severance, Black Mirror, and Silo. Sometimes the highly technological, dehumanized worlds in these stories feel a bit too close to reality, which makes them fascinating to analyze.

Get in touch

If you’re into NixOS, homelabs, or just want to chat about a good sci-fi book, feel free to reach out. I’m always eager to learn something new and meet people with similar interests.
